ABOUT YLACES >

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from support for taking simple measurements to teacher professional development and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.

Professor Juraj Svajda

Professor Juraj Svajda, Slovak University Matej Bel – Natural Resources Management, and a graduate student conducted research on knowledge and research skills of students involved and not involved in the GLOBE Program, comparing students from the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. 

Results

The resulting paper, “The Benefit of the GLOBE Program for the Development on Inquiry Competence in the Czech and Slovak Contexts,” was accepted for publication in the International Journal for Environmental and Science Education. YLACES funded the page charges to enable pblication of this important paper.
