2nd Virtual GLOBE/ESS Midwest Collaborative

$1,250

GLOBE ESS Midwest Collaborative team will hold a live Virtual Conference Date on May 2022.  The following midwestern states will be invited to participate: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, , Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The audience will be students in grades K-12.

Students will have the following presentation options:

  • Completed GLOBE Student Research Project – Poster in Preferred PowerPoint Format

  • Completed GLOBE Student Research Project – Student Video

  • GLOBE Student Research Project, in Progress – Student Video

  • Discussion of a Project Idea – Student Video

  • “What GLOBE Means to Me” – (Student Video, Podcast, Essay, Art, Model, etc.)

Videos will be limited to a maximum of three minutes, and all submissions must include a signed NASA Media Release Form. Submissions may be shared with the worldwide GLOBE community as appropriate.

There will be certain requirements, which include:

  • Students participating must be sponsored by a GLOBE Teacher (GLOBE Trained Teacher)

  • Projects must include either a GLOBE Protocol or use data from the GLOBE database.

  • “What GLOBE Means to Me” submissions must be thematically aligned to the GLOBE website.

The grant will fund five $250 prizes that will be awarded randomly to schools that have successfully presented at the Conference. The awards will fund equipment purchases for the winners’ schools/ Approximately 50 submissions for this event are anticipated.

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
