APW Jr/Sr HS NASA Club

Grant amount:

$1,114

Parish, New York

For the rivers Salmon, Oswego, Seneca, and Oneida, we will continue collecting data to compare two different counties. One is the county in which our school is located, and the other is the one directly south of us. Our county is more rural overall compared to the other county (more urban/suburban), so the students were interested in any water quality differences. Also, two of our rivers (Seneca and Oneida) connect to one river (Oswego) that then flows into our county and eventually Lake Ontario. The students are curious to see what impact is to the Oswego River versus the Salmon River. The Salmon River is not connected to the other two and serves as a control. Data has been collected since December 2023 and research results will be presented at a 2025 GLOBE regional Student Research Symposium.
