The grant will provide the following equipment: Alkalinity test kit, Electric conductivity meter, pH meters, Macrolens, dissolved oxygen test probe, barometers, thermometers, magnifying lenses, macroinvertebrates identification key, nitrates probe/test kits, rain gauge, digital voltmeter, digital Max/min thermometer, compass, digital hygrometer, soil thermometer, NPK probes, soil pH, graduated cylinder, beaker 500 mL, beaker 100 mL, drying oven, soil auger, acid bottle, funnel, balance, etc. that will be used to take measurements following GLOBE protocols. The grant will also provide support for transporting students to measurement sites to conduct field work.

ABOUT YLACES

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
