Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Science High School CALABARZON Region Campus

Batangas, Philippines

An automated weather station complete with accessories and other meteorological instruments will be placed on top of the Advance Science and Technology Building to collect meteorological data on the Sampaga area where our Campus is located. The set up is projected to cost $1,250 which will be used for both in-classroom STEM activities and research-related experiments of the 480 student-scholars from Grades 7-10.  The set up will also be used in the conduct of outreach activities for nearby elementary/grade schools to train both teachers and students in the use of the instruments as a form of supplementary activity to their science classes.

ABOUT YLACES

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
