Students from the Detroit Metro area will conduct field research during the total solar eclipse. Studies on UV rays, air and surface temperatures will be conducted successfully. 25 students and their family members will work together to learn about the environment and the effect of the total solar eclipse upon it. Ages range from preschool through high school. Research will be conducted in surface temperatures, land cover and clouds, air temperatures, and sunlight UVB rays and their effect on the environment especially during an eclipse. Thank you YLACES!

ABOUT YLACES

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
