The grant will equip students with essential environmental instruments for research projects. The grant will be used for purchase of environmental instruments such as Thermometers, Rain gauges, Water quality testing kits, Soil analysis tools, Compass, Secchi Disk, pH meter, Light meter, automatic smart environmental equipment, and consumables for research projects (e.g. batteries, lab supplies). Transportation to research sites will also be supported. Students will collaboratively prepare research reports summarizing their findings, conclusions, and potential solutions to local environmental challenges.

About YLACES:

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
