St. Johns Riverkeeper

Grant amount:

$1,500

Jacksonville, Florida

St. Johns Riverkeeper's backpack program is designed to provide all the materials needed for an entire class to become scientists as they administer water quality tests. The program has proven effective as long-term tests allow students to compare and contrast the health of the river over a year. This program will allow approximately 400 middle school students to test the St. Johns River water quality. Students will test the following factors once a month: salinity, turbidity, nitrate, nitrite, dissolved oxygen, pH, ammonia and temperature. These will be recorded to shared Google sheets document and reported to the community.
