Uganda Africa Women Rising 2024

Through a partnership between Africa Women Rising and JPL a school in a refugee camp in northern Uganda will be equipped to so students can take GLOBE protocol measurements of soil, water and air that relate to a sustainable agriculture initiative in the camp and hold a training for teachers from an additional 17 schools and equip them with IR thermometers to measure surface temperature. Data and student research reports will be submitted to GLOBE. GLOBE in Uganda is completely involved and will conduct protocol training.

ABOUT YLACES

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
