Cape Cod Community College

Barnstable, MA

Grant amount:

$1,500

By investing in Vernier Testing Probes and teacher training, we can empower K-12 educators to transform their classrooms into dynamic learning environments. This project will not only enhance students' scientific literacy but also cultivate a generation of environmentally conscious citizens who are equipped to address the challenges facing Cape Cod and beyond. This proposal requests funds to enhance environmental education on Cape Cod using Vernier probes. This innovative technology will empower K-12 teachers to engage their students in hands-on, inquiry-based investigations of local environmental issues. By providing teachers with the necessary tools and training, we aim to foster data literacy, critical thinking, and a sense of environmental stewardship among 50 students and teachers. By in-servicing 20 teachers through professional development workshops, and conducting multiple workshops, our goal is to impact the educations of thousands of Cape Cod students. Additionally, Cape Cod college students will participate in teacher in-service workshops to share their expertise and contribute to the development of interdisciplinary lesson plans. This collaborative approach will strengthen

the connection between higher education and K-12 schools, ultimately benefiting the entire Cape Cod community.
