Chickasaw High School

Chickasaw High School is requesting funds to purchase a weather station and air quality monitor for the school’s outdoor classroom. All classes and all 300 students will have access to the station and data. Chieftain Chat, the student news, will highlight installation and report throughout the year on the data and research students are conducting. The National Green School Society, the school’s recycling team, will help to monitor their condition and will be trained in using them so they can help other staff and students. The monitor will be in the entryway, visible to all students and the community.

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
