Students will complete research done following GLOBE protocols and present these data at the Toledo Zoo Student Research Symposium. Students will present to classmates prior to the symposium. Students will take observations in their school's prairie. Data will be analyzed. Students will communicate what they learned from their data. In the fall they will work with the district science support person and complete water quality testing during a field trip to an area meteropark. Data will be shared at the district Water Quality symposium.

ABOUT YLACES

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
