This project introduces students to the concept of ecosystem services through the natural system at Oak Mountain State Park, the largest state park in Alabama (12000 acres), and Ebenezer Swamp in Montevallo, Alabama. This project will integrate national and local datasets and field visit data, aligning with the park's materials. Students are also Introduced to environmental measurements (soil samples, water samples, tree ring analysis, climate measurement), learn to observe and quantify the impact of local ecosystems , extrapolate data, and make connections between the data collected and the real world. The project will involve 125 students.
