Bacdet Banyabindi Project

Uganda

Grant amount:

$3,500

The Banyabindi ethnic minority in Uganda faces marginalization, limited access to quality education, and barriers to active participation in scientific research. This grant will fund scientific instruments (e.g., water quality testing kits, soil moisture meters, portable weather stations), transportation to measurement sites, and a student research symposium engaging project participants. At least 50 Banyabindi students will gain hands-on experience in data collection and environmental research.

Grant amount: $3,500 with $1,500 to be raised locally to train local teachers and community mentors in environmental science and research methods and host workshops for students on scientific inquiry, research design, and data analysis.
