$1,500

Participants will walk alongside the Slaves Route and measure different atmosphere, biosphere, and hydrosphere GLOBE parameters, interact with locals and elders, and share relevant data with locals and the GLOBE community. This project called THE SLAVES ROUTE GLOBE PROJECT is intended to mobilize 100 GLOBE students from Ouidah, Abomey Calavi and Cotonou  municipalities (eventualy from Porto Novo municipality) to walk along Benin's route of Slaves in the historical and touristic City of Ouidah in the south of the country. The project will focus on GLOBE students from primary and secondary schools (4th to 12 grades).

About YLACES:

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
