Allegheny College’s Creek Connections program hosts two Student Research Symposia that bring together about 400 middle and high school students participating in our watershed-based project. The symposia are held at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, and at the YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee in Fombell, PA. These events engage nearly 50 teachers and their students from more than 39 schools throughout Western Pennsylvania. During the symposia, students present research projects and have the opportunity to interact with professionals from regional environmental organizations. A highlight of the day is the focus group session where students are placed in small groups to participate in a hands-on learning activity. Allegheny College seeks $4,500 in grant funding from YLACES to support the 2027 Creek Connections Student Research Symposia.
