Grant amount:
$120
Ferrum Elementary School requests $120 to establish a student-led Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network (CoCoRaHS) precipitation monitoring station, benefiting approximately 50 4th-grade students annually. This project transforms students from passive observers of weather into active citizen scientists. By installing professional-grade monitoring equipment on school grounds, students will serve as the site's Principal Investigators, responsible for collecting daily rainfall data, reading measurements to the nearest hundredth of an inch, and maintaining a longitudinal climate record for the Pigg River watershed.
