We are seeking funding to purchase and install weather stations across the school campus to expand students’ environmental monitoring efforts. Last year, we installed air quality monitors, and students will build on that work by using existing air quality data alongside new weather data to investigate how local weather conditions influence air quality in the area.

Students will collect and analyze data on atmospheric composition, local weather patterns, and climate conditions. Integrating these datasets will help them better interpret air quality readings, research, and understand the environmental factors that drive changes in those measurements. This project will also support deeper learning about the relationships between weather, air quality, and broader land and atmospheric conditions in the local environment.

About YLACES:

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
