Grant amount:
$1,119.88
Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy seeks funds to purchase water monitoring kits and databots to support student research of the Indian River Lagoon. The estuary is a vital part of our community and is often called the cradle of the ocean. The students will use the equipment to collect environmental data on the health of the estuary. Students
will work in teams to conduct a habitat survey and a biological survey of a location along the lagoon. They will collect and analyze water samples. Students will conduct their research through field studies. To extend their research beyond the classroom, students will share their research with the community through oral and video presentations. Students will be encouraged to present their studies at the local science fair.
We will work with local partners such as the Ocean Research Conservation Association and the St. John’s Water Management district to compare results.
