North Point ESC
Ohio
Grant amount:
$1,500
North Point Educational Service Center (NPESC) will use a YLACES grant to engage approximately 120–180 middle and high school students (grades 6–12) in authentic environmental research through From Data to Decisions: Student-Led Environmental Research. Students will investigate local water quality, soil health, and biodiversity. By collecting and analyzing real-world data and sharing findings on public platforms such as GLOBE and CitSci, students will contribute to ongoing environmental monitoring while developing scientific thinking and data literacy skills. The project will also impact an estimated 200–400 community members through partnerships with local environmental organizations, service-learning efforts, and student-led presentations. Students will collaborate with professionals, participate in environmental restoration activities, and apply their research to real community needs.
