GLOBE Senegal
Senegal
Grant amount:
$1,500
The grant will be used to carry out soil fertility and pH soil in 4 high schools and one middle school located in a rural area with an agricultural population.
In 2025, young students from schools conducted the soil and pH protocols at schools and with farmers to help them improve agricultural yields. In 2026, we want to extend this project to 5 schools to enroll many more young students who will then be deployed in the field to help farmers better understand the soil and the climatic hazards in arid areas.
Will do also climate observations with GLOBE Observer. The study will both strengthen environmental education for students and help countries to know soil fertility and make the necessary corrections. The data will be used in the classroom to better understand STEM and then sent to the GLOBE website to share with students, YLACES, teachers, and researchers around the world.
