The Himalayan Habre Center is a community-based resource hub dedicated to empowering K–12 students in STEM education through hands-on outdoor learning. 

We will engage 40 students (grades 6–10, ages 8–18) and 8 educators from four rural schools in a three-day, field-based training focused on environmental science and biodiversity conservation. Later, the trained students will extend their knowledge and experience to over 200 fellow students through conducting student-led environmental research projects. 

They will also sensitize over 400 local community members on environmental stewardship by sharing results via presentations, a monthly school wall bulletin and reports. 

The full project requires $3,013 in funding, but with YLACES we request $1,490 funding to purchase different essential field equipment needed for water quality analysis, soil testing, and climate data collection. Using this equipment, students will be trained to record and analyze environmental data using the GLOBE protocol, applying their findings to wildlife research and conservation. 

This equipment will not only support hands-on learning during the three-day program but will remain with the schools, ensuring continued use to carry out environmental research and data collection activities around their localities.
