Stewards of Eden
Rwanda
Grant amount:
$1,500
This grant will be spent on paying for environment measurement equipment. A small portion will be spent on related transport costs to get the students to nearby ecosystems. Stewards of Eden will purchase magnifying glasses, nets, water droppers, and measuring tapes. Hands-on activities where simple technology is used will further develop early learners' curiosity in STEM and GLOBE-sensitive activities, inspiring and setting them on a path to becoming smart science citizens who have the appropriate skills and knowledge to protect and live safely in their own local environments.
This sort of science education experience and opportunity is often what is needed in our schools but due to shortage of resources, science education is mostly theoretical. It will enable us to boost our science equipment hub which YLACEs sponsored for our first environment measurement project at the beginning of 2025.
This grant will help in closing the education quality gap by giving disadvantaged rural children access to the tools for quality environmental education. 200 students will benefit from this activity. These will be students from Ahazaza Independent School, a not-for-profit school.
