Turtkul District No. 3 Technical School

The State Institution "Turtkul District No. 3 Technical School"  is requesting a grant to establish a "Renewable Energy and Environmental Monitoring Station" as part of the local "Green Spark" youth initiative.  


Operating as a pioneering institution for the GLOBE Program in the region, the school will utilize the funds to acquire professional-grade environmental monitoring equipment, including pyranometers, UVA/UVB light sensors, and comprehensive weather and soil monitoring systems. 


This project will directly engage 250 students, ages 15-18, annually in hands-on citizen science and STEM education. Students specializing in electrical and agricultural fields will use the instruments to measure solar energy potential, track atmospheric changes, and monitor soil health. By regularly analyzing this information and uploading it to the GLOBE database, these youth will apply theoretical physics and biology to real-world technical challenges. 


Furthermore, their research and practical projects will indirectly benefit an estimated 1,000 community members by promoting renewable energy awareness and environmental stewardship in the region.

About YLACES:

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
