Esri was awarded the 2016/2017 Youth Environmental Science Medal for its work  to bring the analytical power of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to classrooms and empower students to do spatial analyses.

Esri chose Jane Goodall's Roots and Shoots program to receive the $10,000 YES Medal Grant.

​

The Medal was presented during Esri's Federal Conference in Washington, DC, on February 13, 2017. Pictured at left are Esri lead on education Charlie Fitzpatrick, Esri Chairman Jack Dangermond, YLACES President Dixon Butler, and  Stephanie Keller representing Roots and Shoots.
