Kenya Globe Plus Post

$4,501

GLOBE Plus Post Kenya is focused on promoting the monitoring and identification of mosquito species that carry diseases such as Zika. They strive to determine the distribution and frequency of these disease-carrying mosquitoes across communities. Once at risk communities have been identified, reports and intervention recommendations will be prepared. The project will focus on GLOBE Hydrosphere (hydrology) and mosquito protocols. The grant will provide magnifying lenses for use with smart phones if photographing mosquito larvae, Vernier meters to observe water quality parameters, turbidity tubes for measuring water transparency, and other required supplies. The grant will enable measurements to be taken by 5 participating unlisted schools and reported to the GLOBE Program and interested parties in the local area. Students will analyze their data and compare it with data from other locations.
