YLACES Welcomes New Board Member Nadisha Clayton

We are pleased to welcome our first teacher to the YLACES board of directors! Meet Nadisha Clayton, of Laurel High School in Prince George's County, MD.


Nadisha Clayton is a science educator at Laurel High School (LHS) located in Prince George's County, Maryland. Nadisha has been in the classroom for over 13 years and has a passion for helping students develop an interest and appreciation of science and the environment.


Nadisha is one of the sponsors of her school’s Envirothon club and Green Team club. The Green Team is responsible for managing the schools’ recycling and composting programs.

Since becoming the coach for the LHS Envirothon Team in 2017, she has helped 10 students get scholarships from the Soil Conservation District. Teams are awarded scholarships when they win or place second in the county competition and represent Prince George's County at the state competition.


Nadisha is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus (BSc., MSc and postgraduate diploma). She has a background in Biochemistry and Zoology, Occupational Environmental Safety and Health and Science Education.


In her spare time, Nadisha enjoys gardening and spending time with her family. She is a part of the Ujamaa Cooperative Farming Alliance which cultivates heirloom seeds and grows culturally relevant plants for food, healing, and textiles.
