What prevents you and your students from conducting environmental research?

Is it access to scientific measurement equipment, transportation for field work, substitute teachers, or mentoring? 


Let us help you overcome barriers to students progressing from taking environmental observations to doing environmental research.


Educators and organizations in the United States may apply for:

  • Grants of up to $1,500 for instruments and supplies to facilitate youth environmental research and data collection.

  • Grants of up to $5,000 for local student research symposia (SRS).


International educators and organizations may apply for:

  • Grants for instruments and supplies to facilitate youth environmental research and data collection with the endorsement from the GLOBE Program in their country.

About YLACES:

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists assists and rewards the implementation of inquiry-based, experiential science education where students do science and contribute to the understanding of our environment through recognition and financial reward programs.

Grants range from equipment and supplies for taking environmental measurements to recognition and support for students presenting their research projects and working for pervasive inclusion of student research projects in science teaching.
